I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life lately… It’s amazing how quickly life comes to a screeching halt when something serious is going on within your family. So, thanks for being encouraging on social media and not hating on us for the radio silence here on the blog. Technically, I suppose that’s blog silence, but radio sounds far cooler.
Before life got a little bonkers, I did a super quick summer fireplace update in my kiddo’s playroom. I honestly don’t know why I’d never thought to do this before… It took me about ten minutes and I just love it!
See, all I did was spray paint a bunch of firewood and stack it in the fireplace!! It adds some color, some funky whimsey (I’m pretty sure that’s the first time those two words have ever been used together in the history of ever) and didn’t cost me a penny!
I laid a tarp outside, tossed down some firewood from my husband’s wood pile and just used any leftover spray paint colors that I had around the house. Small confession: I have at least 55 cans of spray paint, so I had a decent selection to choose from… #spraypainthoarder
Aren’t they so fun already?!? I think I have 100 ideas I’d like to try with this colorful wood!!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I have NO intention of burning this wood. It’s purely decorative and I’ll move it out when winter arrives and we’re ready to actually use the fireplace. I don’t want to be getting any angry emails about peeps burning their house down due to their pretty painted firewood okay?? 🙂
So, have you ever tried painted firewood before? Am I just late getting to the party or a trend setter? lol. I haven’t actually gotten to decorating the mantle or anything, but the hex wood accent on the fireplace actually makes decorating the mantle optional- or at least that’s what I tell myself!
And don’t forget that we’re still accepting donations for the bedroom that we’re decorating together for The Well!

Paint Dipped Succulent Planters
I’ve seen the ends of firewood painted before and have considered doing it. We have a gas log though so would need to use in the summer only. Yours is cute
What an absolutely FAB idea!! We have a pellet stove but I like to have a few small logs sitting beside it looking like they are “logs in waiting”!! But they wood look SO cute painted, I mean why NOT look good while in “que” to get into the hottest place in town?!!! Just in case you didn’t get the meaning f the last 3 sentences. I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!!! TFS
