I was a huge Trading Spaces fan back in the day! Who didn’t love all their crazy ideas… beach sand room… the straw walls…the faux flower bathroom… way too many good ones to list! I always wanted the chance to be in a similar makeover situation and when Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux approached me about working with them to makeover each of their nurseries, I knew my Trading Spaces moment had arrived!! Check out this episode of their #GOALS Series below to see how my very first Nursery Swap Makeover went down!
Spoiler alert… these twins looks SO MUCH ALIKE… Not sure even the Trading Spaces pros would have been up for this challenge! I mixed them up a million times over! HA!
Crazy fun right?!? I had a blast working on this project! And before I get to some design details for ya, lemme give you some back story here… Jocelyne and Monique are US Olympic Gold Medal Hockey players – they brought home Gold in the 2018 Winter Games.
Beyond their amazing accomplishments on the ice, these ladies are passionate advocates for gender equity – in pay and equal opportunity. As a #girlboss myself, you know that their work is near and dear to my heart. Make sure you’re following them on social (Monique’s Instagram | Jocelyne’s Instagram | Twitter | Facebook) to keep up with everything they’re up to!
Now for some nursery makeover details!
Monique’s Nursery
Monique knew she was expecting a baby boy, and she wanted a nursery that had a neutral, rustic foundation, but some fun pops of color brought in through accessories. Here’s what we came up with…

This accent wall was made with Timberwall. It’s a peel and stick product, but it’s real wood and so simple to install. It comes in a variety of different finishes, but for Monique’s nursery I went with the Barnwood collection in Driftwood Grey. I love the varied color tones throughout the wall. It gave just the right amount of rustic to the room.

Jocelyne’s Nursery
Jocelyn didn’t find out what she’s having, so she wanted a neutral nursery that was nature inspired, but not in a generic kind of baby way. Here’s what we came up with for her space…

Can we talk about this wall mural?!? I wish I could tell you I had a Bob Ross moment, but this was far easier! It’s a peel and stick wall mural from Minted. It was a new, recently launched product that I was dying to try and guys, it FAR exceeded my expectations! It was so simple to install, but more impressive to me was the quality. It’s thick and textured and even in person looks like I’m a crazy talented artist! I love the landscape pattern and the colors were the perfect inspiration for the rest of Jocelyne’s nursery. You can check out all Minted’s new mural options here – honestly, the hardest part was choosing which one to use!

The room had these two, tricky corners, but we embraced them and gave each one a purpose. Rocking area and reading area.

Overall, my “Trading Spaces” moment was everything I hoped it would be and more! I had the best week with Monique and Jocelyne. I loved working alongside them – it was super fun to see how excited they were to make the other’s nursery really amazing! These women inspire me as athletes, women in leadership, and soon-to-be moms. I can’t wait to follow along on the rest of their journey and was thrilled to be a just a little piece of their story with this project!

I love how unique each room was, fitted perfectly for each twin’s style! The accent walls in each are my favorite. Beautiful job, great episode Monica!
