I’ve mentioned a few times on Instagram (follow along here) that I’ve been working on a bunch of room makeovers in my own home.  My breakfast nook is just about done and my NEW mudroom is plugging along.  Even though the mudroom isn’t 100% finished (I’m hoping to wrap it up this weekend), I wanted to share a great Back to School Hack that I added to the space- A DIY Kraft Paper Memo Board.

I’ve teamed up with Wayfair & Porch for this project – they know I love a good hack and they challenged me to hack one Wayfair product into something useful right in time for Back to School!

Here’s the product I chose as my starting point- a roll of black kraft paper

I’ve been wanting to try this project for a while, I’ve seen some cool Kraft Memo Boards in restaurants and I thought it would be an awesome way to help keep my kids organized aka- help me keep 4 kids’ schedule’s straight! Also, since it’s in our mudroom, which people will walk through to get into our house, I’m planning to write some decorative holiday phrases on it too!

Here’s What You’ll Need To Make Your Own:

Kraft Paper Roll

Wooden dowel (it should be sized so that it can slide through the paper roll. Mine was 3/4 inch)

Half-round molding

2 IKEA shelf brackets

12 inch Pine Board

This hack is crazy simple… You need to thread the wooden dowel through your kraft paper roll.  Once you determine how wide the dowel extends, hang your two shelf brackets accordingly. Rest the dowel on each side of the shelf brackets and pop the pine board on top if you’d like to use it as a shelf.

Determine how long you want your memo board to be and attach the half-round molding along the bottom using two screws (don’t put them in too tightly) to hold your paper in place.  That’s all there is to it!!

Our kids have a rotating 5 day schedule, and it’s really tricky to keep track of, so since Callen just started full-day school, I used the memo board just for his schedule this week.  The older kids know the routine.  He was pretty excited that he had his very “own” memo board from Mommy! Ha!  Youngest Child issues!  

And I’ll be sure to share all the details on my fun Bernese Mountain dog accent wall and all the other mudroom details as soon as the space is done!!  Our dogs Pennlyn and Brynn are big fans of it for sure!
