Hey guys! We’re loving life in the Bahamas- watching the Super Bowl with an amazing ocean view was pretty darn sweet! Make sure you’re following me on Instagram- @EastCoastCreative – I’ll be sharing lots of peeks into our vacation.
But… before we left this past weekend, I whipped up a quick Valentine’s day project that we’ll use when we get back. It’s a fun DIY memo board where my kids can leave little notes for us (and each other) leading up to Valentine’s Day.
It’s kinda funny, but our family is big into group memo boards… we have a big one in our powder room and our kids are constantly leaving notes and drawings. I thought it would be fun, to have one dedicated to Valentine’s Day. The only rule… they have to write kind things or things they love about someone in our family.
I worked with Porch and Valspar for this little craft, so I picked up a piece of whiteboard wall paneling at Lowe’s- it works just like a white board. I used a dry erase marker to give myself a grid, and then used Valspar paint in Marsala- the 2015 color of the year– to do a faux cross-stitch heart.
I’m slightly obsessed with painted cross-stitch… I have a bunch of projects I’d like to try it on.
Before we left for Va-K, I put the board on our piano and our kids got right to work adding their own little notes.
I love that it doesn’t have to be a complex DIY project to be something that works with our family and really will make them stop and think about nice things they can share. This took me about 10 minutes total!
This week 9 other talented bloggers are sharing their Valentine’s Day projects and ideas as part of Porch & Valspar’s 10 Days of Valentines.
I’ll be away all week, but don’t worry, we’ve got some great posts coming your way while I’m gone!
This is such an awesome idea! I love the cross stitch pattern and what a great way to spread the love in your home! Hope you’re enjoying your vacay! Totally jelly you’re escaping the snow 😉
I love the cross stitch look too, and such a sweet way to leave love notes for each other! Enjoy your vacation!

I really need some advice on a square room next to the kitchen. It is like the size of the other room you decorated from those 2 guys that needed office space and couch. My room is filled with many things and not able to decide how to keep in order cause my dogs go in and sit on the furniture and Mom likes her clothes in the furniture and I need a space to exercise even though dogs have other space and Mom lives upstairs. Can you please advise me how to maintain the room.
