This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Reading Eggs, but I really love it, so keep reading!
One of my resolutions this year was to really work on reading with my younger two kids (Kira and Cal). Kira is in Kindergarten and reading well, but she’s still on those kinda lame books with simple words, so there can’t be too much plot. She really wants to be ready to read Junie B Jones and Puppy Pals, books like that. Callen is 4 and in Pre-K and is actually picking up reading really quickly! You might remember I posted this pic in IG last month

With 4 kids though, it can be a challenge for me and Eric to set aside solid chunks of time each day to work with them 1 on 1. I knew I needed to find a supplement to go along with the 1:1 time. I turned to Reading Eggs!
My kids are pretty techy- actually, right now, Callen has Eric’s iPhone in hand playing a game, has ear buds in listening to Pandora, and is walking around SHOUTING because he still doesn’t quite get how the whole headphones thing works! HA! So, I figure, why not put that technology to good use with fun games and activities that are actually educational like the ones from the website Reading Eggs that we can use at home and take on the go! What’s better than a quiet car ride with 2 kids working on phonics and reading? Ok, no kids in the car and me headed to the beach would be better, but you know what I mean! Whether your kids are home schooled or you just want to supplement in the reading department (like us), this website is great for kids ages 3-7 and even has continued learning for ages 7-13 in their Reading Eggspress section.
There are tons of reading activities, games, over 1000 eBooks, and 120 lessons filled with interactive and friendly characters that kids of all ages will enjoy learning from while having fun. Another true story, Kira is actually in time out right now in her room, because she was pitching a fit that her sister was on the computer and she wanted to do Reading Eggs. Just keeping it real here. They both REALLY like the program and here’s something I like about it- there aren’t really long intro videos. I’ve done a few other online programs with my older two kids and my biggest gripe was that they were too slow getting into the activities. Reading Eggs is entertaining, and set at a great pace to keep my kids’ attention!
Most of you also know I was in education for the past ten years. While I taught at the high school level, I was still always interested in what was happening at the lower school. At Agora, every student took part in the Reading Eggs program and many of my elementary teacher friends highly recommended it to me. I see now why they liked it so much. It’s been over a month of my kids using it and they’re doing awesome!! I also love that I get email reports with updated about how they’re doing. It tells me her levels, types of words she’s reading, gives sample sentences. It’s awesome!
Not only does Reading Eggs want to help your child with their reading and math skills, but they also want to inspire your child to help others with their Read-to-Cure Challenge.
Right now you can sign up through our personal link at Reading Eggs for a FREE five week trial (no credit card necessary) and from now until March 7th your child or children can help raise money for The National Children’s Cancer Society. You can ask friends and family members to encourage your child’s efforts to read more books as they sponsor their Read-to-Cure Challenge, with every dollar raised by your child matched by Reading Eggs (whose goal is $25,000). The child with the most books read and most money raised will also be entered to win some fun prizes! You don’t have to get sponsors to use the free trial, we just think it’s a great idea and a good way to teach kids two great lessons at once.
Plus, there is a giveaway to enter for everyone who signs up …Who Wants to Win an iPad Mini?!
- The giveaway will be open on Monday, January 20 and end Friday March 7, 2014.
- One winner will be selected to receive one (1) iPad Mini valued at $299.99,

I can honestly say that working on Kira and Cal’s reading is the only New Year’s Resolution that I’ve kept (yeah that healthy food only…lasted about 3 hours!) and this Reading Eggs program has really helped especially on busy filming weeks. It’s the perfect supplement to the 1:1 time we spend working together!
