A couple weeks back I announced my collaboration with Lowe’s to offer a Holiday Room Makeover and began accepting applications. After reading through hundreds of applications, I am so excited to announce that I’ve made my selection! Before I go and spill the beans, can I just tell you how hard this selection process is on me. I’m not just saying that, I honestly would LOVE to come and decorate with each and every one of you! I was stressing over this decision and had to down to two rooms and just couldn’t pick… finally, there was one room that a designer only comes across potentially once in their lifetime, and I just had to get my hands on it…
Let me introduce you to Courtney and John’s room… It’s the stuff that Christmas dreams are made of friends!
Fireplace # 1 and look at the window pane detailing…
Fireplace # 2 at the other end of the room and look at the gingerbread house style shingles ( I promise I’m not going to paint ANY of the wood. This is good, amazing wood, not the ugly stuff that I paint and then 30% of you yell at me about! lol)
Can we talk about these beams and that ceiling?
And these double doors… I honestly might do the makeover and then move in through Christmas. “Hey! You get a makeover and a squatter! It’s your lucky day!”
So, can we all agree that I HAD to choose this room? It would have been a crime not to! The bones of the space are clearly amazing and it just needs help to transform it into the most amazing, straight out of the movie “The Holiday”, space you’ve ever seen!
I actually told Courtney that it feels like she’s living in the pages of a Jan Brett book
We can all agree that the room is amazing and we’re in a love/hate relationship with Courtney and John for owning such a cool space and we don’t, but I also want to let you know that I am really excited to work with this couple. Courtney had me laughing from her very first email… “I’ll start spiking the eggnog and burning the fruitcake” was a sign to me that we’re going to have a blast together!
I had a vision for the room as soon as I saw it… Jan Brett, cozy, rustic, duh, but I had to find out what Courtney and John wanted for the space too. Thankfully, they totally wanted a similar style, so we’re about to make some Christmas magic!
Here are a few of the photos that we’re drawing inspiration from for the makeover.
Thanks to everyone that entered, and I know it’s a bummer not to be chosen, but I promise to hook you up with tons of ideas and inspiration all through this holiday season and hopefully will be able to offer lots more makeover opportunities down the road!
Make sure you’re following along on Instagram (click here) because I’ll share lots of sneak peeks and ideas!
