Favorite Things Party 2014

This weekend was our Annual Favorite Things Party at Jess’ house.  It got me thinking about a lot of my favorite things from 2014… I have a lot of new favs!  Air plants are definitely one of them.  I actually don’t own any yet, but Jess accidentally left my Christmas present out on her counter the other night- yup, Air Plants!  She knows me!!

One of my new favorite things for 2014 is called Golden Tote!!  Have you heard about it?  It’s basically a small business that acts like a personal stylist who puts together a bag of amazing fashion finds at a deep discount!  I absolutely loved everything that came in my December tote!

Here’s how it works…

There are two tote options each month- a small tote with 2-3 items and a large tote with 5-7 items.

For December, I went with the large Golden Tote.  I picked two items that I definitely wanted in my tote and the stylist team picked the other 5 items for me.  The two items I picked as my “must haves” were this bomber jacket

and this purple sweater

I actually had a hard time picking my two favorites- I was really tempted by this dress….

After picking out my two items, I answered a couple questions about my style preferences…  i.e. No mini skirts please, and I’ll wear any color… I was so impressed with how spot on they nailed my style!!  Opening my tote, I was like a kid on Christmas!

Here’s a peek at a few of my new December Golden Tote items!

Black and Red are my go-to colors- add some geometric shapes and a swiss cross and I’m one happy girl!

It’s a perfect non-ugly Christmas sweater!

The purple sweater that was one of my picks, is exactly what I had hoped it would be- super comfy & a sweet match to my purple highlights.

One thing I really love about every Golden Tote item, is that they have just a little something extra to make them unique.  Little mini pockets, fun zippers, leather patches, all the little details that make them special!

Okay, funny story about these pics…

You guys know I’m totally not a model or anything even remotely near it…  in the picture below don’t be confused by the eyes closed look… it was literally 20 degrees out, super windy and my eyes were closed because they were watering like crazy.  Ha! It just pays to have an awesome girl behind the camera that can work with my freezing, awkward watery eyes so you guys can see one of my new favorite sweaters.  I just didn’t want you thinking I had narcolepsy and had fallen asleep mid-picture.

These looks and so many more are still available in the December Golden Tote, so check it out and I can’t wait to see what the January 2015 will have to offer- I’m hooked!

So.. if Jess’ Favorite Things Party didn’t have a $10 limit, I would have gotten each of my friends a Golden Tote gift certificate, that’s for sure!  I think it was Jess’  3rd or 4th year hosting and it’s  one of the highlights of the holiday for all our gal pals.  If you want to see our past posts and maybe even a goofy video about it, you can check them out here, here, and here.  In a nutshell, we each need to bring our favorite thing from the year for each of our gal pals- Each items needs to be $10 or under (that price limit makes it a bit challenging, but also fun to think of our little favs from the year)

Usually the presentation is kind of a big deal, but this year, my favorite thing- a mix CD of all my favorite songs from 2014-fit nicely in an envelope.  I dressed them up using some fun hex washi and stickers from IKEA.

And just for fun, here’s the songs that I put on my 2014 Favorite Things Playlist.  There are definitely more than these, but I kept it mainly to the Alternative genre.

**I was not paid for this endorsement of Golden Tote.  I was sent a tote to review and give my honest feedback on.  It’s just really freakin’ awesome!**

We definitely share a lot of favorite songs! Just one more reason I think we’d be great friends. 😉
