This past weekend I posted a picture on Instagram (follow on IG here) of our Sunday Night Football Snack – Toasty Tomato Basil Mozzarella Bread and peeps went nuts over it. Who knew you all are so passionate about your appetizer snacks! I made it again the next day (oh poor me, I have to make one of my favorite apps again!) so that I could share the recipe with you. I’ll be honest, this is beyond simple, but it’s totally a favorite of all our family and friends!
Yeah, looks pretty amazing right? Well here’s how you make it- it’s easy peasy friends!
Toasty Tomato Basil Mozzarella Bread
Ingredients:
Crusty Bread (I prefer a baguette or medium sized loaf)
Fresh Basil
Plum Tomatoes
Marinated Mozzarella in Olive Oil (Costo has my very favorite kind!)
1- Slice your bread
I prefer single serve size, so I slice the bread lengthwise in half and then into about 4 inch pieces. When I’m hosting a big party, I slice it lengthwise into thin bite-sized slices.
2- Drizzle with Marinated Oil from Mozzarella Container
Make sure you get the seasonings and flavor from the bottom of the container. That’s where all the flavor comes from!
3- Slice Tomatoes and Rip Basil
I like thinner tomato slices, but that’s totally up to you. You can also use full basil leaves, but I prefer to rip it up so that it’s easier to eat!
4- Cut Mozzarella & Place on Top
I’ve found (from trial and error) that cutting the mozzarella balls in half before placing them, is a very good idea. It keeps them in place. The times that I didn’t, I had them rolling around and making a huge mess! Live and Learn!
5- Bake @ 400 until Mozz is melted and bread is toasty!
This really is hands-down one of my favorite snacks!
Give it a try and let me know what you think!
