It’s our second day of EC2 Wedding Week.  If you missed the first day, you definitely want to check it out here for our wedding tips on a budget and lots of vintage inspired wedding beauty shots!

Vintage Inspired Wedding on a Budget

Today I want to let you in on an amazing secret …Maggpie Vintage Rentals.  I found Maggpie online about a year ago. I don’t even know how I came across their site (you know how mindless surfing can lead you to epic inspiration), but once I found it I was completely hooked!  I only have 7 things in my favorites bar and they’re one of them!!  (Now, that could be because I constantly forget how exactly to add favs, but let’s just recognize that I took the time to remember how to do it on the day I added Maggpie!)

Here’s why Renting wedding furniture can save you big time…  when you’re working with a small budget, you need to do most things the economy route, which can sometimes come across as vanilla… a few amazing, epic, unique pieces can take that vanilla and turn it into an oreo-brownie-blizzard from DQ.  Ya following me?  Let me explain it this way…  Jess and I have a stylist that puts together our work outfits for the show and since we completely destroy clothes with paint and all our DIY projects, we pretty much stick to a Target/Old Navy price point.  Toi (our stylist) has taught us that we can take our lower cost basics and add one or two higher end, accessories and voila the entire outfit becomes legit.  Well, it’s just the same with designing a room or planning an event, but by using rentals you don’t need to actually own the expensive high, end pieces- you just borrow them!  It’s like having a BFF with the best taste ever that lets you borrow stuff for a big date!  (wow, that was a lot of analogies.  If you don’t get what I’m saying, then at least you might be craving Dairy Queen)

RENT VINTAGE FURNITURE FOR DIY WEDDING

We were given Costco tables and white chairs to work with for our vintage inspired wedding- I mean I know I see a lot of seniors when I go to Costco, but it’s definitely not the kind of vintage we were going for.  The few pieces we rented from Maggpie completely changed the feeling of the wedding reception and brought in the authentic, vintage style we wanted to achieve.

Jason and Maggie own Maggpie and they have a really neat story too- you should check it out on their site.  I worked with Maggie to choose items for the wedding, but honestly she did all the design work! I told her the style, colors, and the feel we wanted and just let her do her thing.  She came back to us with such a great combo of items that I didn’t even make any changes!  Since Maggie and Jason have curated their entire collection themselves, they know their inventory intimately and know exactly what pieces will be perfect for each event!

Check out some of these beauties…

They have everything from trunks, to upholstered furniture, wooden tables, dressers, and even fun small scale accessories like books and vases that tie everything together.

Aren’t their rusted marquee pieces the best?  Maggie immediately suggested we use the Philly LOVE sign for the wedding.

Jason and Dave came and delivered the furniture a few days before the wedding.  Of course we made them pose and snap a picture for us (we ARE bloggers ya know- that’s what we do!)  You should have heard the Ooohs and Ahhhs we had going on as they took each piece out of the truck!

Here’s a peek at some of the pieces we used in the wedding

We used a large vintage furniture piece to welcome guests to the reception.  The couple was giving mason jars as their favor, so we arranged them on the piece and then added some vases to accessorize.

We created a little sitting area at the reception between the dining tables and the area we’d created for yard games.  (We finally tried our hand at making yard Jenga and our own corn hole boards.)  Look at how pretty this area looks!  Guests were constantly eyeing up this hot spot waiting for their turn to hang vintage style!

Vintage Wedding Reception

I am not a fan of a head table, especially for a backyard wedding.  It seemed to stiff and formal, but we loved the idea of creating a “Sweetheart Table” – a place for just the bride and groom to sit and eat and let family and friends come to them to chat, give their congrats, etc…  The Maggpie rental items combined with some brightly colored vintage doors that we picked up from Architectural Antiques made for the perfect Sweetheart vignette.

We also used a Maggpie vintage chair and furniture piece in front of our photo backdrop.  If vintage rentals can make astroturf look this good, then the possibilities are pretty much endless!

We’ve also gotten a ton of comments on the cake table and although I SO wish I owned this yellow gem, we did rent it from Maggpie!

I love introducing people to new small businesses that are pretty incredible.  If you’re hosting any kind of event in the Philly area- you need to check them out.  They’ve recently added a ton of new boho style items I’m obsessed with! Even if you’re not hosting an event locally, check out their website and blog for some truly epic wedding style inspiration!

So pretty! I had come across Magpie Rentals for my 2012 wedding (some photos are on the blog today for #weddingWednesday) and though we didn’t end up using them, I’ve kept them tagged in my favorites too! Gorgeous little vignettes!

I am wondering if I am missing some posts or they are not coming through. During “wedding week” I only got two posts. I follow you both on instagram and sometimes you refer to something being posted on the blog and I never get it. Just checking in to see if everything is okay.

    Thanks!!
