Last weekend I had the awesome privilege of hosting The Home Depot’s NYC Garden Party.  It was such an incredible event to be a part of and I loved meeting so many great people- both the Home Depot team and tons of New Yorkers!

Garden Party

Basically the Garden Party was a HUGE event right smack dab in the middle of Flatiron Plaza on one of the most beautiful spring days in New York City.  The event was all about getting ready for spring and was perfect for the DIYer, Gardener, and Chef in all of us!

I was the hostess of the event, but obviously got pretty comfy at the crafting area where guests decorated their terra cotta pot before planting at the garden area.

I loved seeing people take some time to sit down and allow themselves to get creative.  It was amazing how many different types of people I got to hang out with- young families, 20 somethings just enjoying the weekend, grandparents, businessmen, you name it- everyone wanted to join the party!  I loved getting the chance to meet some “Knock It Off!” fans as well.  This little lady was shocked to see me when her mom told her I was really “the girl from TV”  Ha! She just kept saying “WOW” so we were sure to take a picture together!

After getting crafty with me, guests moved over to our Gardeniere Pamela Reed who helped them plant their choice of basil, oregano, or cilantro.  Pamela blogs at Brooklyn Farmgirl and she has an incredible rooftop garden!  I could learn so much from her!

After getting their their hands dirty, it was time for some delicious food! There was a full raised bed salsa garden and tips on how to grow one.  Basically, it’s a garden with everything you’d need to make your own salsa all season long! Can I get a “YUM!”

I loved meeting Chef Jason Roberts and we hit it off right away (we both enjoy being a tad ridiculous)!  You might know him from his cookbooks or from his work on The Chew the past few years.  He’s an incredible cook, has a great New Zealand accent, but I was even more impressed by his passions!  He’s a huge supporter of No Kid Hungry and is actually riding across America next year in support of the organization (yeah, like on a bike! He’s a machine!) He is committed to educating people about healthy eating and believes it starts with kids!

Jason served grilled carrots that looked amazing- I didn’t get to try one because I was busy crafting with the over 900 people that attended! I heard they were insanely good though!

I was so impressed with the whole event and how well it was run by The Home Depot team! I was pretty proud to have been a part of it!

The final Garden Party celebration for the season is in Seattle, hosted by the amazing Melissa from The Inspired Room and remember if you can’t get to these locations you can always follow along on Twitter and Instagram with #SpringMadeSimple.

Plus, you can also join The Home Depot Garden Club and follow their Garden Party Pinterest board for more tips and tricks that will keep you busy right through to the winter (but let’s not think about winter yet- okay?)

Hey there! Loved seeing how much F.U.N. y’all have at these gatherings & was wondering how to get MY city involved. I live about 20-ish miles N of Albuquerque, NM. The “Land of Enchantment”! We have some challenges here in our sandy, hard ground & think this area would be a GREAT place for Home Depot to have a Garden Party. I want to start my own “salsa” garden & so enjoy seeing the turn out & all the fun these gatherings create! ANY info would be greatly appreciated & this is a good jumping off place to get me started on my blogging!!! Thanks again for sharing this fun & TIA for ANY info you may have! Chelle

Yes I can tell that the love is from your heart! Wish we could see some of the best creative pots.

It’s so cute that you have young fans. 😉
