Today we thought we would take a look back at last year’s winner: Sarah M. Dorsey, who recently celebrated a 2 year blog anniversary over on Sarah M. Dorsey Designs… Happy Anniversary Girl!
Sarah’s designs blew us away last year during Creating with the Stars 2013 , can we just talk about this creative Statement Light Fixture she brought to the table in round one for the upcycle challenge …
Then in round 2 for her knock off design, she hand-stenciled Schumacher Zimba pattern drapes, created an Anthro-inspired bench, and a cornice. Sarah didn’t just give us one incredible DIY project to drool over, nope she knocked out the competition with three of them!
She continued to impress us all in round 3 with her stenciling skills, which can now be purchased in her Etsy shop (her stencils, not her skills!). Can you believe the inside back panel on this beautiful bookcase turned secretary desk is a hand painted stencil, amazing right?! Plus, can we all agree how remarkable the wall stencil is…also hand painted and designed by Sarah!
During the entire Creating with the Stars 2013 competition, Sarah was always in the top 5 and then came her final design in round 4 for the home decor face off that took home the cake…
If you look closely at the temporary accent wall she designed, you will notice the nails that Sarah used to create her pattern with… about 2,250 nails to be exact! Oh and then there is the stunning custom DIY headboard she made, love the shape and the color. Since being a part of Creating with the Stars 2013, this room makeover has actually become famous and made it on the cover of Make it Over magazine for their very first issue!
If you don’t know Sarah as well as we do, you soon will. This year she was named as one of Better Homes and Gardens “Top 10 Decorating Bloggers” in their 2014 BHG Blogger Awards. But, that’s not all, she was also in the run for the Apartment Therapy Homies award for Best Home Projects and DIY Blog. See, we told you she’s amazing!
Currently she is featured in BHG’s Makeover Madness with her stenciled secretary desk she made for Creating with the Stars 2013!
Sarah made it to round two and will be facing off again, so stay tuned to her blog and social media pages to find out when it’s time to vote and help her win!
Want More Sarah??
If you love her fabulous designs as much as we do (really, how could you not?), you won’t want to miss her guest posts during this year’s Creating with the Stars. Usually Jess and I play along with the contestants and share our own project each week, but with filming and working on makeovers for “Knock It Off” we’re kind of strapped for time! We thought it would be fun to invite Sarah back to play along for us!! Each week during the competition Sarah will be sharing a project for each theme to give you even more inspiration for your own home! I promise you they’re going to be amazing!
Now, if this doesn’t give you that little push you needed to enter CWTS 2014, then we don’t know what will! Also, there is still time for everyone to win a trip to Punta Cana…
Happy Hump Day Peeps!
