I have been living in the dark ages. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but trust me when I say that blogging withoutย a smartphone is not easy! So when AT&T wrote to us asking if we would be willing to try out their brand new HTC OneX smartphone to see how it could help simplify doing projects and blogging, I didn’t even give Monica a chance to say yes. I jumped all over it so fast, she didn’t know what happened (Sorry Mo!) I’ve been moaning and complaining that blogging without a smartphone is difficult because you can’t connect with your readers on Facebook, Twitter or through emails unless you’re physically at the computer, which for me doesn’t happen often. I mean, who wants to sit at a computer all day instead of playing and interacting with their kids?! Not me. Anyway, let’s just say that when I received this package in the mail, I literally jumped up and down, clapping.
Not only did they send this awesome phone, they included a gift card to use for a project to demonstrate how much this phone can help you get things done. Ummmm, yes, count me in, please. I can’t wait to show you what project I did tomorrow and how this phone helped me along the way! AT&T’s mottos is “It’s what you do with what we do”, and I can’t even tell you how much I’ve been doing with what they do. However, I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about smartphones or technology in general, so I’d never heard of the HTCย OneX, but I figured that I would take anything over my old-school cell.
This phone far exceeded my expectations! It is so sleek, has a huge screen (4.7 inches)ย and is easy toย use. The only problem I’ve had so far, is thatย when I’m texting, the phone autocorrects inย Spanish, which isย pretty darn funny. Just ask Monica.ย By far, my favorite feature of the phone is the camera- it’s 8MP (same as theย iphone)ย so the pictures are clear, even in low light (which happens all the time when you do all your projects at night). Here’s the proof:
Of course, I’ve put the camera to good use documenting projects and showcasing amazing stuff we found at Clover Market.
I can’t even tell you how valuable the camera is to me, though, because of the amazing pictures I can take of my kids at a moment’s notice. I mean, seriously, I would-and probably will!- hang these on my walls.
The camera is just one feature of the many things I love about this phone. It takes HD video, my kids love watching Veggie Tales on youtube on the big screen, and the Beats audio is incredible. I’m telling you, this phone is no joke. And want to know something cool?
AT&T gave us an extra HTC One X smartphone to give away to one of you!
Yay! That’s right. All you need to do to enter is leave us a comment telling us how technology helps you get stuff done. For extra entries, like us on facebook and twitter. ๐
This giveaway will be open until Sunday, September 30th, so make sure you tell all your friends! The winner will be announced Monday, October 1st. And don’t forget to come on back tomorrow for a tutorial on one of my most favorite projects I’ve done to date!

I have an older smart phone with a not so good camera. But I use it all the time because it is so handy to have a cameras with me all the time. I love the calendar too.
I think you have once try HTC One X.it is nice smartphone i think you will like it….:)
HTC One X
Ahhh I need a smart phone! I’m living in the “dark ages” as well – as my husband says, we don’t have smart phones yet – only “stupid phones” ๐ I would LOVE this to help keep track of blogging better!!!
Still waiting for my hubby to set me up w/a smart phone!! Like you, I NEED it for blogging/social media…wish me luck!! ๐
I love taking pictures for decorating inspiration at Pottery Barn.
love when a great phone also has a great camera!
denise
I LOVE my smart phone! For everything from keeping my schedule updated in it, setting reminders for birthdays, taking pictures to share with friends, buying movie tickets, doing Bible devotions, and simply keeping up with family and friends, it is amazing how much more convenient life is!! And I agree, blogging is definitely easier to do with it too on the go!
I take pictures of things in stores that I am sure I can DIY later. A little sneaky but very useful.

Awesome give away ! I would LOVE love LOvE this ! THe pictures are just great !
IT would help me with the pictures and tutorials right there at my fingertips
I’m always borrowing my husbands to make schedules, and most importantly take inspirational photos when we’re out and about.
I’m always snapping pictures when I’m out so I can go back and show the hubby what I want.
I was slow to smartphones too. But now that I’m there, I do love it. My favorite feature is internet access, text messaging and the camera. Love having a camera available all the time. Thanks for the giveaway.
A smart phone would be so cool! I love your blog. I’m working up the gumption to try the mudroom project.
Oh I love this! Yes – technology is AWESOME for looking up recipes really quick, creating lists {to do} , alarm reminders! Video chat w/ my family in other states– amazing!!
I’m still slow at learning everything, but I can say the camera is wonderful.. The notes and reminders have helped me tremendously! I never thought I’d be texting… My husband even ask me to map something for him the other day, boy was I surprised. He still has a dinosaur phone..
i don’t have a smart phone but the biggest reason i wish i did was to keep our family calendar on the phone so i’d have it all the time! with 5 kids i’m checking the calendar all the time and if i’m not home, it’s crazy!
Without technology, I’d probably be lost…without FB and Picasa…I don’t even want to imagine it. I have my phone with me all the time – therefore, it’s always in my hand when I’m doing projects (it has hot glue on it to prove it)…so it’s super easy to just snap pics half-way through a project, and then auto-upload it to Picasa ๐ FAN-TAS-TIC!
My daughter and I snap pics of our projects we are working on and send off to each other for feedback–I use when shopping to catalog my wishlist and ideas to “copy”–and my favorite of all Grandchildren!!
i love having instant feedback via text. “Is this dress flattering??” Send it out…and instant feedback!! I also love being able to take pictures!!! This would be SO great for my mom…who still uses one of the OLD SCHOOL phones and doesn’t know how to text! ๐
Technology gets me out of my mommy world and lets me know what’s happening outside. With 4 kids I need to have a calendar on hand at all times! I also love that I can look up project ideas in no time and getting fast, cheep and creative ideas in seconds!
I also love being able to take pictures of my boys at a moments notice. Our regular camera is pretty out of date, so being able to use one that takes great pictures is awesome ๐
Tech on the go….It never fails if I don’t have access to emails then I receive an order via email and need to buy more supplies to complete the order. With tech on the go I can receive the order, pick up supplies while I am out and save gas and time. Fingers crossed!
Tech helps me blog where ever again so I can pin inspiration, find information and do all sorts of cool stuff. Hope I win!
I agree with Laura B. – I like being able to get quick opinions and answers on things via texts with my friends who might be across the country!
haha, I still have a Tracphone that I use *sometimes*…I’d love a smart phone! Business is picking up thanks to y’all…and I need to stay connected!! Time to get with the times!
The calendar & notepad on my smartphone are my saving graces! My poor boyfriend is living the life of a flip phone owner right now… he would die for this HTC OneX! ๐
I’m like you- kind of behind on tech
Beats Audio? I think this might be the only smartphone that offers this?
I’m a music freak, Pandora or Spotify helps me get stuff done (listening while I work).
I like being able to carry pictures of items I lust over for my house, along with what I already have at my house. That way when I am out and run across something I can double check that it will work with what I have or what I want. So better than carrying a huge notebook with me!
Technology is my lifeline — to my hubby, to my son’s school, to work (I work in CO, my company is in CA), to my out-of-state family, to my bank… you name it! Gotta love the convenience of technology — and smart phones to boot!
Facebook, Instagram, etc! Totally worth it!
Like you I think I am that last person on the planet that just has a regular cell phone I refused to text until the first of this year. I see how a smart phone could change my life from google calender. to instagram, form Pandora to apps. I think it is time I step in this century and let the technology help me get things done.
You are not in the dark ages- I only just got texting in January!! I don’t have a smartphone either. How technology does help me is that I can use my notepad in my cell phone (non smart phone) and type notes to myself on products I find at thrift stores so I can go home and see if I should purchase them to sell on ebay- see, a smartphone would REALLY help me!!
technology can simplify life in so many ways, if we are in control of it ๐ I *can* be so much more efficient with my time using technology if I am disciplined!
Smart phones are awesome!
Technology is so important to us! It keeps our family connected at long distances and provides a second income for our family.
Work well im at home so I can spend more time away from the office and more with the family.
Allison M
Technology helps keep me organized and in touch with the people I need to connect with!
Technology helps me organize everything! And make it look pretty ๐
I need a phone with awesome technology like the HTC OneX Smartphone to keep my life on track! Between work, meetings, and 12 grandchildren….I need to remember a lot of dates! LOL I would love this phone. It has it all….calendar, camera, alarms, etc. I can even access the internet and Facebook!!!! Woo Hoo!
I’m still in the dark ages with my “dumb” phone. It aint “smart” in the least bit. I would love a smart phone for so many reasons; instant email, posting pics of the kids on Facebook, etc…
I love that I can make a list and then put a pic of the list on my smartphone as a reminder of what needs to be done… better than a sticky note cause it doesn’t lose the stick!! LOL
Researching other options while I stand right there in the store aisle!
Researching, picture taking, posting and of course checking emails.
My daughter & I share a laptop, so this would come in handy since I have an old phone that does not even offer the internet! I would love to be able to surf the web not just while she is at school, but at my own convnience : )!
dncamup@gmail.com
Helps me keep track of family sports and activities!
I desperately need to get a new phone. I didn’t even stop to think how this would help with my blogging! I can’t wait to see what all this phone can do!
i soooo need a new phone!!! thanks for a chance!!!
Totally in the market to upgrade by ancient cell phone and get a smartphone. Would love to try this!
My to do list and calendar go with me everywhere thanks to my phone!
I need this more then you know!!!! Im still in the dark ages too! All my friends and family have a running joke on me! I need this to stay connected to my Etsy site!!
Oh how i hope i win this!! What a blessing that AT&T is doing this!
carriesummerlin@yahoo.com
I couldn’t function without the camera on my phone! (and instagram!)
I love how quickly I can google things with a smart phone. I don’t know where I’d be without Google! lol
I love a smartphone for its camera quality, googling, app store, doing homework (yes, my college has an app) and the GPS… Then I hate it when it isnt so SMART and the battery dies all the time and auto corrects my text to read somerhing other than what I intended to say and my tasks dont run so smoothly. However the good far out weighs my cons….
My family wants me to get a new phone and I have resisted up till now but…I think this new phone would help keep me organized and my family happy!
I love “ordering” books from the library so I don’t have to drag my 3 little boys in!
OH MY!!!! My phone Calendar keeps me ON time and helps me keep track of my life, my kids, etc!! I use the map thingy constantly when I’m lost or just can’t find something……I don’t know what I did without it!!! ๐ Thanks!
I am behind the technology power curve – just a basic cell phone here – but a smart phone sure would help me catch up and get stuff done!! :o)
Technology, and more specifically, my smartphone keep me organized. I couldn’t live without my calender and reminders.
To keep us organized, in constant touch with family friends even kids. I would have half the business I have without it! Loved your video by the way! Very clever and fun! I hope you win!
I don’t have a smartphone, but wish so bad I did! I think I would use the camera all the time! Who carries a camera everywhere? But when you have an amazing phone…who needs a camera? ๐
I want to be Smarter! Fingers crossed!
I love using the calendar on the smartphone. It helps me keep track of everything that is going on.
I don’t have a smartphone but I use my kindle fire all the time. I love using the apps to remind me to pay my bills and keep everything.organized!!!
The Camera and calendar keep me sane and organized
The calendar will help me remember what needs to be done.
I have an iPhone and it helps me stay organized with bills, appointments and birthday reminders. I also use it to stay updated on the latest news. It’s very easy to use and makes sense to have seeing that most of the people I talk to daily have one and we can facetime and use imessage over WiFi for free!!!!
Thanks for giving me ANOTHER item for my wishlist! ๐ I, too, have an ‘old school cell phone’ and I didn’t even think about how much easier blogging would be with a smart phone. SO, technology doesn’t make my life easier…. but it COULD. Hope I win! ๐
Love having access to email on my phone. Saves so much time ๐
sally.puckett@yahoo.com
I am a terribly forgetful person, and my phone has saved me countless times. I snap pictures of my parking spot, recipes, and products I want to search before I buy. I also use this feature to make sure my honey is buying exactly what we need, and not just something close enough.
I love the camera on my phone. I have it with me all the time, so I can snap a picture at any time.
Technology keeps me connected to everyone
Theresa J
Technology helps me stay organized to get stuff done a little more efficiently.
Unfortunately I am also living with my old stupid phone. I have been not so patiently waiting a long time to move up to a smart phone. I feel lost without the technology!
I am still in the dark ages with my phone… I am so envious of people that use these phones for everything going on in their lives. I am just waiting for the right offer to step into the 21st century.
Love your blog! Great giveaway – thank you!
I use an app that allows me to make lists, so I always have project ideas on hand and shopping lists. Technology helps me to keep everything organized in one place, instead of one scraps of paper scattered in my bags, in my office, and around my house.
Oh my gosh! I am so in the dark ages of technology as well with my little flip phone. JUST started doing some texting and have to use the little number keypad to do so. I’d LOVE a smart phone, for real.
My husband has an iPhone and I have just a simple phone…I would love a smartphone! My husbands smart phone lets us go out to dinner with our four year old and actually have a moment to talk. Whe also uses it to document his adventures with our son when they go on walks and send me cute pics of them. I would love to be able to do the same.
Hi Jess and Monica,
Well I’m still in Jess’ land of yesteryear with a plain old cell phone. I find myself stuck to the computer to get everything I need accomplished, and that is typically 12-14 hours a day. OH BOY…the thought of removing that shackle with the help of an AT&T HTC OneX Smartphone, spending more time with my family and still getting work done, is a very appealing thought. Thanks for offering this to your readers, and keep up the great work. You guys rock!
Dan
I like the efforts you have put in this, appreciate it for all the great content.
Technology helps me to organize and simplify!
I love that the camera is so clear and the screen is big enough for you to actually see what’s going on on your phone! I think anything that can help you capture a moment is priceless!
What a great giveaway, Jess! So I’m the absolute worst at staying in touch–I’m kinda’ the anti-girl in some ways because I never have time to use a phone for actually calling anyone anymore. Sad, huh? But I love these amazing apps that let me send easy breezy FB messages to my girlfriends, check work email (while I’m out hiking on my lunch break), and tweet something sassy to my hubby all from my phone!! But would love to have a phone with a decent screen for photos and video. How cool! xoxojess
I actually use my phone now more than my computer for keeping up on emails and social networking. I’ve even got my blogs, video accounts and documents auto-uploading to share with everyone. With a better camera and faster device, I could get even more done!
I use technology to keep up on current events.
I love my smartphone! I don’t think I could live without it. No longer a need to carry my laptop, phone, planner & camera because it’s all right there. I think I would be dead in the water if I ever lost it.
how does technology help you get stuff done? I am always on it checking e-mail, looking up products and checking Facebook and Twitter.
Allows me to quickly access my social media apps and conduct business on the go.
Technology has come so far. With a smart phone I can run my house, my daughters soccer team, my work, and even get caught up on all my favorite blogs. Thanks for such a great giveaway. Love ECC.
Technology helps me pay my bills, do my job, and learn awesome new things, every. single. day.

**************Pick me for the HTC One X***************************
~~~10 years ago~~~
Ring, Ring, Ring……..this was the sound of my analog alarm clock waking me up in the morning
~~~Present day~~~
Now I wake up to the all too famous “Marimba” tune that’s on the phone that changed it all….the iPhone.
Technology in general has advanced so rapidly and helped me in too many ways to count. Here’s a few of them:
1. Always connected – now with 4G LTE on most modern smart phones, the internet has amazing speeds and is always at your finger tips to check me email, find the latest news, what place to eat, or what my friends and family are up to on their social networks. I’m constantly checking google ready for the latest tech news from The Verge, Engagdet, etc, the latest scores from ESPN, or my local news for traffic jams. I’m a huge fan of yelp and always use it to find the best place to eat at an affordable price. It has led me to some wonderful hole in the whole places. And I’ll tell the restaurant owner, I found you on Yelp!
2. Never get lost – built in GPS has helped me to always find my points of interest with little trouble. Remember the days of searching map quest and printing the directions…omg! Or going through map book to find the streets nearest the area you wanted to find. I used Navigon a lot on my iPhone as my primary navigator until I found how bad the new Apple maps were. It led me to a wonderful app called Waze. Anyone readying my post should definitely give it a try. The benefit of this app is that it incorporates social features like real time user feedback of traffic jams, accidents, etc. Be aware of running GPS apps on your phone. You will need to bring a spare battery or car charger because it will definitely drain your battery quickly.
3. Keeping me occupied – in modern day like today, it has never been more fun to wait in line at a doctor’s appointment, the airport, or even those once a year license renewal at the DMV. Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Temple Run are some of the awesome games I played that have kept me occupied for hours. It has definitely made those trips on the airplane much shorter for me. I sometimes wish my flight was delayed so I could get those 3 gold stars in Angry Birds.
Well, I’ve never had an HTC device before and since I’ve read so many great things about the HTC One X being its flagship phone, I hope I have the opportunity to give them a try.
Thank you.
Wayne
I like being able to look up information about products that I am interested in and being able to buy it withouta trip to the store.
In our household, we don’t yet have “fancy future phones” , as my husband calls them. However, I would love to have one to simplify projects…especially in the kitchen when I want to try a new recipe. It would be really nice not to have to quickly write it using shorthand on the backs of envelopes sitting around.
I like being able to search up information wherever I go, I also like using GPS function when I get lost! ๐
I recently transferred law schools and my wife had to stay behind in our old city to finish out a commitment to her job. Until she is able to move, we use our phones to stay in touch. With all of the ways to connect now, such as picture messaging and video chats, our smart phones are really useful and essential tools.

Technology Helps me view the public transit operating schedule in real time, while I listen to music as I browse my schools website to do my online assignments for my nursing degree. At school, technology lets me use my digital camera to take pictures through a microscope in my pathology lab as I text peers in my class about the surprise concert of the band I was previously to that I found out about on twitter.
Technology helps me keep in touch with my family, friends, my life. I check in with social networking, take pics and videos of my kids . Since I never have a separate camera, I always have my phone. I also read my text books from school and post in discussions as well as check out library books. There is nothing that you are unable to do with a phone, it has become such an integral part of life.
Technology helps me with a lot of things! It helps me stay in touch with friends and family, it helps me look up answers to questions I don’t know, and it helps me stay connected to the world!
I like being able to look up information on products and being able to purchase them from where ever I am.
Love as a great phone and great camera,Technology helps me with a lot oh things!,It helps me stay in touch with friends and family,It has become a integrated part of the life And many people like this blog and site also.
I so need a smart phone!! It would help my keep up with blogging while I run between clients ๐
I would love a new phone. Please I can have it!
I’d love to update my smartphone. I’ve only had mine for a little over a year and it is already too slow! Love the picture quality.
I need a phone so bad! I have an old version and would love to use it to connect to the internet and take photos of my boys! I do so many projects and would love it to keep a record of them
I have only had 2 cell phones in the last 12 years…not too bad except that I cannot keep up with the teens in my life. New technology would help me stay connected and also give me the opportunity to see what’s going on in the EC2 world while I wait for practices to end and between car pooling and the school bell to ring(: Thanks for the chance ladies!!!
It helps me multitask – I can be at the park and answering work emails at the same time giving me time with my son and also the ability to check in at work. It helps me schedule things & not be forgetful. I’d be lost without technology!
Research at the tip of my fingers helps me to be better informed in many aspects of my life. Love the quality of the pics you took with this cool phone!
I love my smartphone-it’s been life changing! I honestly couldn’t live without it and my apps such as Square card reader to accept credit card payments for my business, inventory tracker apps, and mileage calculator.
that’s a beautiful phone! I would love the updated pictures it takes!
i need this really bad my phons old and its practicaly broke
it helps me alot with school and my soial stats i have a twitter ,facebook , tumbler and a myspace pleas help me
I use it to document my childrens lives, pretty much everything it helps me with.
I love recording all of my children’s firsts, and a smartphone would certainly help that!
Please! If I didn’t have my computer, I’d actually have to use a cookbook! AND I’d have to figure out if it tasted good by actually making it instead of reading 60 reviews first! AND I’d have to figure out my own adjustments to it to make it taste better because, once again, I wasn’t able to read all the reviews!!
My son heads to Spain for seven weeks soon. Can’t send him with his phone (too expensive), but i understand at&t phones are better. Would love to be able to talk with him while he’s there! (yes, I’m prepared to switch carriers)
My greatest joy would be to take pictures of my kids and instantly post them online. This way my parents who live 1,200 miles away in FL could see them the same day. How fun!
I use my phone for GPS and also I use a money management and online bank apps on my phon
Technology on my phone helps me easily stay in touch with our friends and family who live in other parts of the country.
Mine Broke today and I need a new one – this would be perfect and I’ve been wanting this phone. It’s beautiful!
I can’t use my phone for work. It has a craked screen. I do use my IPad when I create or for reference when I do my oil painting.
I use technology to keep up with all of my relatives around the world. I also use my iPod to read books, use it as a GPS, and use Facebook for iPhone to find my old friends and keep in touch with them. The HTC One X is a really gorgeous phone, and I can’t really afford a smartphone of my own, so I hope I will at least be considered for this amazing smartphone! I’ve always wanted an HTC phone – it’s actually my preference over iPhones and Samsung phones. :3
