*Warning: If you are squeamish, easily disgusted, or don’t like the sight of old food. Stop now.
I am a leftovers hoarder.
I come by this problem honestly since my mom is too. (Sorry, mom. Just sold you out on a public blog.)
I figure that admitting my problem is the first step, right? Admitting it publicly and including pictures is sure to get my butt in gear.I have such good intentions. Really, I do. Every time I clean out my stinky, filled-to-the-brim fridge, I think to myself, “This has got to stop. I’m letting my family down and I’m hurting myself.”
Eew. Don’t ask. I’m thankful you can’t smell this through the computer.
I’m hoping my friends and family don’t disown me. Especially because I want to change. I’m going to change, gosh darn it! I’m kicking this habit for good.
Anybody else a Leftovers Hoarder? (Crossing my fingers….)

P.S. We have a REALLY REALLY REALLY (yes, that’s 3 reallys) awesome giveaway for you tomorrow from one talented lady! Make sure you check back tomorrow for details.

oh, I have the same problem!! I just cleaned mine out yesterday because the smell coming from my fridge was horrifying! Here’s to keeping it clean and actually eating the leftover food!!

Another blogger, (www.theFrugalGirl.com) has a Foodwaste post every Friday about that same topic. Seeing how little she wastes as been motivation to me to use up old food, and it keeps me cleaning out the fridge every week so I’m more aware of what’s in it.

  3. Sarah T. says:

This post gives me flashbacks of our fridge in college…not only was there old food…but nobody wanted to claim it…which left everyone ignoring it for entirely too long.

  4. Kim B. says:

I keep a dry erase board on the side of my fridge. Every time I place a left over in the fridge, I note it on the board with the date next to it. When I’m looking to supplement a meal with leftovers, I just check the board.

  5. We won’t disown you. We are well aware of your problem.

  6. Anne says:

I try to put leftovers only on one shelf of my fridge. This helps to not have them “hiding” all over the fridge.
