Hey guys! I’ve teamed up with Command™ Brand to show you how you can host your own Instagram-worthy flower workshop at home. We’ve all seen the amazing parties and floral workshops on the ‘gram, but is that really attainable in real life? It totally is– and I’m going to show you how by using a few Command™ Brand products, you can totally transform a space in your home into a temporary party zone that your friends will love, and most importantly, one that’s 100% worthy of some killer Instagram posts!
Materials: Command™ Ceiling Hooks | Command™ Picture Ledges | Command™ Forever Classic Oil Rubbed Bronze Metal Hooks | Flowers | Floral Snips | Vases and Various Containers | Balloons | Faux Floral Greenery + Flowers | Scissors | Twine | Hot Glue Gun | Paint | Paint Brushes | Poster Board
Note: Follow all Command™ Brand package instructions for proper surface cleaning and prep, adhesion and removal.
We’re all familiar with those trendy, giant floral balloon garlands-they’re amazing, and for a party balloons are a must…but, instead of spending 1.3 million dollars on balloons and helium we decided to get a little creative and DIY the look for less. Using Command™ Ceiling Hooks, we hung our balloons upside down from the ceiling, meaning no helium required! Your bank account can thank me later.
Step 1. Tie a knot at the end of your twine where you’ll later hang it from the Command Hook. Then, snip off some pieces of your faux greenery and glue them piece-by-piece onto the twine. Using faux greens for these allows you to reuse the garland if you want to throw another flower bash in the future– just add some fresh greens each time you use it for a little variety!
Also, using a glue gun makes life sooo much easier, am I right?!
Step 2. Next you’ll want to attach your balloon to the other end of the string, and using the knot you first tied, slip it onto the Command Hook so you balloon hangs upside down.
Step 3. Following the instructions on the product packaging, peel back the papers and attach the Command Hook to your ceiling. The great thing about this product is that the little hook easily pops in and out if you need to re-adjust and move your balloons around to get the perfect arrangement.
Aren’t these so fun?! This simple DIY is a great way to add some color and texture to your party setup, and it’s a reusable project, which is a win in my book!
Half the fun of a pretty party is taking some great pics to Instagram later! If you don’t have a lot of wall space in your home or just want something fun and different than your standard white wall, these photo backdrops are great ways to achieve that Instagram look!
We picked up some plain poster board from the office supply store and used a craft brush and some paint to create different designs and patterns. Then, using some Command™ Poster Strips, we hung the poster board onto the wall. These Poster Strips make it super easy to swap out different patterned backdrops so you can keep snapping away!
We also used one of Command’s newest products, the Command™ Picture Ledge to display some little bud vases in front of a cute little quote (we caved and wrote one happy go lucky lil’ thang) and then hung it with a Command Hook. Not exactly savage, but it is a flower party, so we kinda had to do it. These ledges are awesome and easy to adjust and move around once the party is over.
Go ahead and add a little tag for your bud vases letting your friends know what kind of local flowers you’ve brought to the party.
I mean, LOOK at these blooms! My friend Kelly from Bloom Flower Co. was our amazing flower supplier for this party. I asked her to source locally from farmer florists near us, and without a doubt, she gave us some incredible flowers to work with! If you’re planning your own at home workshop, talk to some local farmers and find out what’s in season– everything will be super fresh and the cost will be lower. Win win.
I’m 100% not a flower expert, and neither are my friends, so I had Kelly tell me the names of all the flowers and just wrote them out on kraft paper, so that everyone got a little education… and another IG photo op!
I picked up some inexpensive galvanized containers 60% off at Michaels and had blooms all over for my friends to pull from.
Each of my gal pals got to arrange their own flower bouquet and test out the fun photo backdrops we made. Before the party I hopped online and googled some floral arranging tips to have handy, but honestly we just kind of went rogue and saw what we could come up with!
I was seriously impressed at everyone’s arrangements. They looked legit professional! Not too shabby for a bunch of rookies at their first at-home workshop!
I wanted to be able to enjoy the workshop a much as my guests, so planning ahead and getting everything organized was key.
Using some Command Forever Classic Oil Rubbed Bronze Metal Hooks, we created a little area to hang our aprons from. These metal hooks are super heavy duty, and hold up to 5lbs! It also gave my space a true “workshop vibe” and I could easily remove the hooks after the party.
To hang these hooks, follow the package instructions– lots of peeling and sticking!
The brushed metal finish on these give them a really high-end look and they’re super durable, too! I picked up one apron for each friend – I grabbed some at HomeGoods, World Market, and Target.
A quick organizational tip for all those extra Command Strips you have laying around but might need to use again one day… stick them in a labeled plastic bag! Each product comes with more than enough strips, but let’s face it– if we’re not organized, we’ll definitely lose all those extras and just end up buying another pack when we run out. A simple sticky note to note what product the strips go with will prevent this from ever happening again, and also make sure you include the packaging instructions in the bag so you know the proper way to use each strip!
I don’t know about your girlfriends, but if we’re getting together, there must.be.snacks. I wanted to set them up in a cute way, and some simple shelving was the easy peasy solution!
Take your party game to the next level and use some pieces you already have in your home like this lightweight IKEA shelving unit or side tables, even fun chairs and accessories! Throwing a party doesn’t have to be about buying tons of new stuff– you can go all out using things you already own or by DIY-ing a few little projects!
Just look how excited my girl Tiff was when I showed her the cocktail ingredients I had in my bucket. HA!
With just a few simple DIY projects, we were able to throw together an awesome little at-home flower workshop, and I’d say it’s was totally Instagram-worthy! (wink wink)
Are you already planning your next girl’s night out or an end of summer party? Hopefully our little shindig inspired you to try your own at-home workshop!
Also, thanks to the lovely Kate from Kate Leigh Photography for capturing all these pretty shots!
