Hi Guys! Today is a super fun day for East Coast Creative! I’m sharing 12 Make-It-Yourself Holiday Gift Ideas with Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Live! with Kelly & Michael.  Hopefully, you can watch the segment (9am EST), but even if you can’t, this is your lucky day… I’m sharing all 12 project tutorials so that you can give some fabulous handmade gifts that your friends and family will love! You can check out the other 11 projects HERE, but first, have a look at these cute tea towels!

These hand-stamped tea towels are so easy, and everyone will think you picked them up at a boutique- they look so cute when they’re finished! You can also do cloth napkins.  I did a few of each!

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own stamped napkins or towels:

Materials: Multi-Colored Craft Paints | Pencils | Tea Towel or Napkins | Fabric Medium Cork Letters | I picked up all of my materials at Target and JoAnn Fabrics.

Up first… Letter Stamped Napkins

Step 1: Choose the color you want to use, and grab your fabric medium, a small mixing bowl, and a spoon.

Step 2: Since we’re painting fabric, you’ll need to mix your craft paint  with some fabric medium so the color won’t fade from the fabric. The ratio is 1 part paint to 2 parts fabric medium.

Even though the fabric medium is white, it will not change the color of your paint once it’s blended.

Step 3: Put some of the mixed paint onto a scrap piece of paper.  Grab your cork letters and dip it into the paint you just mixed, covering the entire bottom surface of the letter.

Step 4: Start stamping! You can create a phrase or name, or even a pattern with the letters and other stamps you may have.

Step 5: If you’re a perfectionist, you can fill in your letters where the paint might not have covered the towel completely, but I also like the perfectly-imperfect look!

Step 6:  Allow the paint to dry for 24 hours and then iron the fabric to set the paint.  Use a medium heat setting.  Now you can use and wash your fabric as you normally would!

Now, an even simpler idea using School Supplies to get perfect polka dots!

Step 1:  Combine your fabric medium and paint as directed above.  Put your 3 mixed paint colors on a piece of scrap paper.

Step 2: This super technical method uses, get ready… a pencil eraser. Just dab the eraser end into the colors you want…

and pattern your little heart out!

The erasers make the perfect little polka dots!

Step 3: Wait 24 hours and heat set your pattern with an iron.

How chic do these look? It’s up to you if you tell your friends you made them- they look completely legit and adorable!

Get creative with these- look around your house and stamp with all kinds of things! I used a little mini rolling pin to make these larger circles.

These  napkins & towels make great practical gifts, but also double as cute and festive kitchen and dining decor!

HELP! I loved your segment of do-it-yourself creative gifts on Live with Kelly and Michael today. I have tried to access your “instructions” on this website – unsuccessfully. Can you e-mail them to me (particularly the tea towel/napkins and the nail polish-decorated pots. Do you have a book I can buy offering ideas for homemade gifts? I belong to a small artisans’ group and we’re always looking for different projects! Thanks.
