Hacks are becoming all the rage, and since East Coast Creative has been hacking since the very beginning of time (or so it seems), I thought it would be fun to revisit some of my favorites!  Here are 10 Awesome Hacks for Your Home.

Print-Instagram-Pictures-2

Lighting can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. In this lighting hack tutorial you can learn how to make your own custom globe light using a balloon and string!

DIY-Modern-Light-East-Coast-Creative

Don’t have a giant balloon to make your own DIY modern pendant light….use a garden orb instead!

Live-Edge-Mirror-2

Who would have thought a dorm room mirror could look so sexy?! From drab to fab for under $20, this mirror makeover is a must hack for your home.

DIY-Rug

This area rug hack could save you up to $400. So before you make that big purchase head on over to this tutorial to learn how to make your own rug from four smaller accent ones.

IKEA-Hack-farmhouse-Table-512x1024

One of our most popular hacks and one of my favorites, which is why we made one of these IKEA Hack farmhouse tables for my own home!

DIY-Built-in-shelves

From laundry rooms to bedrooms, craft crates can work all over your house. With this hack you can create custom built-ins without the worry of figuring out where a million pieces go!

Planked Walls

Purchasing real wood to create these faux planked walls would have put us over budget for this room makeover. But guess what, we used paneling and produced the look for less!

I’d love to know if you have a favorite from my list of favs!

    Love watching your show

Hi, I’d like to know what channel your show is on and if it can be on cable( FOXTEL ) in Australia. If it can’t be shown here is there a way of looking at it on my computer?
Enjoted reading about your hacks. I loved the idea of using drawers and crates for shelves.

    Blessings,
    Denise

I so miss the LiveWell Network. It used to come on in Charlotte, NC, but no longer….cop shows instead. Mostly I miss Knock it Off, even though the episodes were all reruns recently, I still liked watching them over and over. I will usually notice something that I missed previously, since they go by pretty fast…not to mention the fact that my rememberer doesn’t work very well any more, so I have to refresh.

I am so glad I got to know you and Jess before you went away. I was totally enthralled with each episode of the program and so in awe of your corporate know-how and decorating talents. I hate seeing furniture that people have thrown out (unless it is totally demolished). I could not tell you how many pieces I have picked up and painted and/or repurposed. It is such a shame what people throw away!

Anyhow, didn’t mean to whine, just wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed what you (and Jess) do (or did)! I am a big fan!

  4. Tomi Jackson says:

EVERYYHING you &Jess do is absolutely amazing!! I am about to retire and start revamping several rooms in our home. I hope to use a variety of things I have seen on your shows. Here’s hoping and praying they turn out half as great as yours. Thank you so very much for sharing what you do! You’re wonderful!!!

I love love love your show. You guys are so inspiring to me. I have been trying to come up with some hacks of my own after watching you for so long but I have one situation that has me so stumped. I’m trying to come up with a semi permanent topper for a iron framed canopy I have over my back patio. I love staying out there but the weather doesn’t allow the burlap cover to last more than 12 months without mildewing. I’ve replaced it twice. The frame is sound enough to put something else but I don’t know what to use. It would have to be vented somehow so high winds don’t take it but solid enough to keep out the rain. 10x 11. Any ideas? I wish you guys traveled to Texas. I could really keep you busy. 🙂

  6. Evelyn says:

I am seriously considering doing the crate wall in my small bedroom. Not enough room above the window for a row of crates but could do a cornice board to connect the two sides. I think I would like to have some of the storage clised on the front. Any ideas on how to do this in a simple economical way?

  7. Maryann says:

    Hi Monica!

I’m such a huge fan of y’all’s and the show!! Will y’all begin filming again anytime soon?

    Thank you,
    Maryann

  8. Tami says:

I really miss your show as well as the Live Well Network. I wish they would bring it back.

  9. Linda Grady says:

I miss the LiveWellNetwork; many wonderful programs – favorite was the do-it-yourself projects on Knock It Off. Many awesome projects; love the washer/dryer and crates for the walls. The garage make-over was great and the wedding and, and, and…………….. Sure do miss your show. Looking forward to something new in the future – best wishes in all you do, Monica and Jess.

  10. Kristin Smith says:

I LOVE your show!! I have all of your shows recorded and watch them over and over when my kids are sleeping. I get so inspired to Knock Off all my projects…and then the kids are awake! We bought a lovely wallpaper filled house and three years later, all outdated wallpaper removed and I’m finding myself now loving the new style of wallapaper with beautiful themes and patterns! We have a lot to look forward to in our home but with 2 kids under 3 its hard to find time to do anything and I’m horrible with design even though I try so hard! I need your help in Hatboro, Pa!

    • Monica says:

Wow- you’re close to us! Did you know we’re in Bucks County? 🙂 I totally know how you feel with little kids- nap time and after bedtime was the only time I could get projects done for years! Now my youngest is 6- it’s a lot easier! Have you checked out temporary wallpaper? It might be a good- easy to remove option! Good luck!! -Monica

  11. Clarisha says:

Miss you guys! Knock It Off is so inspirational. I couldn’t find a console table that was right, so I made my own. I always liked the idea of a window seat as a reading nook, now I know how to make it. I seem to want things that haven’t been invented yet, and your show encourages me to make it. I find myself checking for marked down paint samples and going to a nearby not for profit building materials recycling place. Thanks so much. I’m so excited to try so many of the things I saw on the show. Best to you, Jess, crew and families. Hope to see you guys making shows again soon.

  12. Jackie says:

Hi Monica! How did you make the big letter on the wall, shown here http://livewellnetwork.com/Knock-It-Off/photos/Before-and-After-Photos:-Rustic-Dining-Room/9359562?photo=6?

I need something like that in my living room! Thanks!

  13. Good day! I could have sworn I’ve visited your blog before but after going through a few of the posts I realized it’s new to me. Nonetheless, I’m certainly delighted I came across it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking back often!

  14. Boxon says:

A very creative idea Monica 🙂 Where do you get all those ideas? The first idea was very interesting to me. I have an idea using colored sticker paper instead of electrical tape. What do you think?

    • Monica says:

Hi there– thanks! The best thing about DIY projects like these are you can use pretty much any material, color, finish you want, so use your creativity!

  15. AvaHenry says:
