Holiday Gift Guide for the Hostess

We host a lot of shindigs at our house.  I love entertaining and I think our family has struck the right vibe between a totally comfortable welcoming experience and still having a bit of style.    Jess and I spoke at a conference last spring all about the way in which you use your home- it’s actually a topic I think I’d like to explore even more someday.  It’s interesting to think about how YOU view your home.  Do you fall more on the Retreat or Community side?  My opinion is that a solid blend of both is right where we want our home to be.

Macy’s caught on to my love of hosting and asked if I’d share some gifts for the hostess in your life.  I love these gift ideas and I’m hoping lots of my friends read this post and then buy them all for me!  Kidding…not really.

As a hostess, I know that it can feel a tad exhausting sometimes.  I think giving a gift as a way to say- “Hey, you have people over all the time, and I appreciate that!” is such a great idea.  I really like all of these items, but let’s be honest, the Gold Place Setting rules!

I’d love to know, are you a hostess?  Do you ever get host burnout?  (It’s a real thing- trust me!)

Don’t forget about the hostess in your life this Christmas- especially if you’re my friend… Ahem-Gold Place Setting…

    Hi Monica,
I agree with you! My husband and I routinely host all our extended family functions as our home best accommodates the large number of people. I really love having them here and feel very blessed to be in a situation where we can open our house up to our family. However!!! It is a lot of work, baking, planning, shopping, cooking, setting up tables, and it doesn’t stop once the guests arrive, and even continues well into the next day. I made the mistake in 2012 of hosting Christmas on the actual day, and that was nuts! I was absolutely wrecked by the end of it, and really didn’t enjoy it at all. Although I would never expect it, I do think a small token gift would be lovely to receive. I like to give a small gift as a token of appreciation. Let’s value our hostesses!! 🙂
    Cheers, Liz in Australia.
