Did I say come back Monday for the paper pinwheel bridesmaid bouquets tutorial?! After a busy weekend yesterday was a bit of a catch up day returning emails, running around town, etc. So, now that things have settled down (do they ever really?!), we are ready to give you guys the details on one more DIY wedding project.

bridesmaid pinwheel bouquet

Monica and Jess put together a beautiful floral and succulent bouquet for the bride, but wanted something a bit more playful and out of the box for the bridesmaids. They were in the middle of putting together these pinwheels for the photo booth backdrop when they got the idea to use them for the bridesmaids’ “bouquets” as well….I’m telling you these ladies are creative geniuses!

Paper Pinwheel Decorations

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Paper Pinwheel Bridesmaid Bouquets

Scrapbook paper in various sizes (12×12, 8×8, 6×6)

wooden dowels

stapler

hot glue gun and glue sticks

Scissors

Cricut Explore

Fold a Pinwheel

1- Cut your scrapbook paper into equal strips (make them as thick or thin as you like), then make accordion style folds with each strip.

2- Next, lay each strip side by side and flat so they fan out. Then staple the ends of each folded strip together.

3- Once you have all of your strips stapled together, bring the two ends of your long strip together and staple. (a whole lot of stapling going on, huh?!)

4- At this stage you’re probably thinking, “This doesn’t look much like your paper pinwheel bridesmaid bouquets Monica and Jess!”, but don’t give up just yet!  To achieve the pinwheel style you will need to use your trusty stapler once again.

5- Push down on your paper so it lays flat and start stapling the middle of your pinwheel together so it looks like this…

6- Next, turn your pinwheel over and hot glue a wooden dowel to the middle of your “bouquet”.

7- To get the floral look and help hide those staples in the middle of the pinwheel, Monica and Jess used their Cricut Explore to print out different designs to hot glue to the center. If you really want to get creative, you can use vintage buttons for the middle of your “flower” as well.

Budget Wedding Tips Bouquets

I really love how these turned out, and it looks like this beautiful bridesmaid did too!

It seems like a process to put the pinwheel together, but trust me these were so easy to make that Monica and Jess had a few of the Knock It Off crew helping out with them! All hands in when putting together a DIY backyard wedding!

What do you guys think, will you be making paper pinwheel bridesmaid bouquets for your DIY wedding?
