Guys, can you believe Memorial Day weekend is here already?! To help us kick things off for the holiday our blog assistant Diana is sharing a little red, white, and blue round up. Take it away girl…

I’m so excited to share with you a few of my favorite Memorial Day party and decorating ideas. What are your holiday plans for the weekend; is there a local parade you take the kids to, do you go to the beach for a few days, or do you celebrate at home with family and friends with a backyard BBQ?
Memorial Day is the unofficial start of Summer with pools opening up, flip-flops and shorts being pulled out from the back of our closets, chicken and burgers cooking on the grill, and all signs of winter lingering around are finally gone! We’re ready to celebrate and party with our red, white, and blue food and decor, but we must not forget that Memorial Day is about remembering the brave men and women who serve and sacrifice their lives for our country. So let’s fly our flags high and take a moment to remember and honor them.

This patriotic printable on I Heart Nap Time was created last year by Kiki of Kiki & Company for Independence Day, but many of these ideas will work perfectly for both the Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays (So don’t discard any of your decorations until July 5th!). I love the faded but still very noticeable image of the American Flag behind the United States graphic, and the quote is a perfect way to pay tribute to those who serve and protect.

This fun printable from Catch My Party will add a bit more playfulness to your patriotic celebration, because not only do we love our country but we love BBQ food as well. Ugh, now I’m drooling on my computer screen as I daydream about barbecue chicken! If you don’t have a grill, but still love that BBQ taste, check out Jess’s Easy Pulled BBQ Pork recipe that you can cook in a crock-pot, my husband loves to make a similar version of hers… it’s so good!

I am currently obsessed with collecting mason jars and have found so many amazing DIY crafts to use them for. I can’t wait to try this awesome mason jar flag DIY from It All Started With Paint. It’s pretty much the coolest mason jar craft I’ve spotted on Pinterest, plus it doesn’t look too difficult to put together and that’s always a bonus in my book!

Before you get rid of those tired and beat up pair of jeans, you should try this Memorial Day DIY project first. It’s not just adorable bunting either, there are cute tassels on it too. If you want to get your bunting perfectly cut, Dusty of All Things G & D has even created a template to use so that our patriotic painted denim banner will turn out as cute as hers!

There’s always room for dessert, especially when it comes in mini mason jars and fits your red, white, and blue party theme! Wouldn’t these be a great parting gift for your guests to take home with them?
What’s a Summer BBQ without a tasty and refreshing drink? I love this trio of recipes Monica and Jess put together two years ago for Memorial Day. It includes a fun Sangria recipe that I’m looking forward to trying this weekend, but features two non-alcoholic drinks as well. Do you have a favorite go to drink recipe for Summer holiday parties?
I’d love to hear what you’re doing this weekend to celebrate Memorial Day, plus don’t forget to share with us your favorite holiday food or decor idea. Have a safe and happy red, white, and blue weekend!
Awesome ideas! I especially love the mason jar flag! 🙂
